It’s time to reclaim the youthful volume and smoothness your skin enjoyed in the past. At Biotech Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center in Aventura, FL, we are dedicated to helping you reverse the effects of aging by smoothing away lines and restoring a fresh, healthy-looking fullness using revolutionary treatments like Juvederm.
What Is Juvederm?
This is an FDA-approved collection of five injectable fillers made with a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is nearly identical to that produced by our bodies. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the skin that keeps tissues well lubricated and moist. When injected, the gel formulation instantly helps to smooth lines and wrinkles, soften creases, enhance facial contours, and restore volume.
Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally, there is little chance of an allergic reaction. Each of the different fillers have their own properties, purposes and longevity and can be used to lift and contour the cheeks, add fullness to the lips, smooth vertical lip lines or soften the lines around the nose and mouth.
How Long Does Juvederm Take to Become Set?
A patient will see more fullness or smoother skin right away, but it might take up to two weeks to see the final results. These results can last from six months to two years. This will depend on how much and which type of Juvederm the doctor uses and how quickly one’s body metabolizes it.
Because the filler dissolves naturally over time, results are temporary and maintaining them will eventually require touch-ups. However, Juvederm contains the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid currently available in a dermal filler, offering longer-lasting results than other treatments. Moreover, after two to three rounds of injections, most patients notice their results lasting longer and longer.
Post Treatment
There is no downtime with Juvederm, but you might experience mild tenderness for a week or two after your session. Applying ice or a cold compress intermittently after injections can help to ease such sensations. You should wait several days after a filler injection before having any facial treatments that will put pressure on your skin.
Scheduling an Appointment
Doctors recommend scheduling injectable treatments at least two weeks before special events where you want to look your best. It is important to find an experienced injector who is very knowledgeable about facial anatomy such as a board-certified dermatologist, a plastic surgeon, or a facial plastic surgeon.
The provider you chose will be paramount to the success of your outcome, since an experienced injector will know which type of filler to inject, have experience with perfect filler placement and have the vision to create a reasonable expectation and result.
